2017 Global Infrastructure Forum
- Date: 22 April 2017
- Washington DC
- United States
The Global Infrastructure Forum is the flagship event on collaborative financing for infrastructure development in support of the Sustainable Development Goals.
The forum is jointly organised by the multilateral development banks (MDBs) in close partnership with the United Nations (UN). This 2017 forum is co-hosted by the European Investment Bank and the Inter-American Development Bank.
The second Global Infrastructure Forum will focus on financing economically, financially and socially sustainable infrastructure, while considering its link to climate change. Participants will have the opportunity to gain valuable insights by exploring best practices from across the world, understanding the need to foster early planning and how to access a range of financing sources for infrastructure projects.
Under the overarching theme “Delivering Inclusive and Sustainable Infrastructure”, eight breakout sessions will be chaired by the MDBs. These sessions will be organised in collaboration with national development banks and examine best practice on leveraging and mobilising public and private resources. In this regard, the European Investment Bank is working in close partnership with Agence française de développement on the session ‘Financing Sustainable Infrastructure and Climate Action in Cities’ and with the African Development Bank on the afternoon session ‘Energy in Africa’.
EIB President Werner Hoyer, Vice-Presidents Jonathan Taylor, Ambroise Fayolle, Andrew McDowell and Deputy Secretary-General Marjut Santoni will contribute to the discussions and complementary breakout sessions on behalf of the EIB.
