The EIB has arranged specific credit lines with local partner banks targeted at medium-sized corporates with fewer than 3 000 employees, and investments with a project cost up to EUR 50 million. The Bank's "MidCap" financing can support up to 50 % of total project cost or, under certain circumstances, the 100% of the loan granted by the intermediary bank.

The EIB supports smaller-scale infrastructure projects carried out indirectly by local authorities and municipalities through credit lines with local financial intermediaries. In collaboration with the European Commission, the EIB has established the Municipal Finance Facility (MFF - EUR 30 million in EU grants and EUR 240 million in EIB loans) and the Municipal Infrastructure Facility (MIF - EUR 50 million in EU grants and EUR 250 million in EIB loans). Both facilities are for the new Member States and accession countries.
